An Analysis of the Character Hamlet

Today I will make an analysis of Hamlet, who was the protagonist in the chapter Hamlet . Of course, it is a famous story in Tales from Shakespeare.

Tales from Shakespeare was written by Lamb.C and Lamb.M . In the early years and the rest of the British teenagers, influenced by the French revolution, a group of radical friends, led running together, to struggle, the power of the reactionary conservative at the same time also by the other party. Lamb.M was Lamb.C ’ sister. They worked together to finish this famous writing.

The chapter tells a story between the royal nobles in Denmark. Hamlet was the prince of Denmark who was full of hope about the future. However, his father who was the king of Denmark, died suddenly. Hamlet’ mother, Gertrude , the queen of Denmark, in less than two months after her husband ’s death, married her husband ’ brother Claudius, which was noted by all people at the time for a strange act of indiscretion . The problem was that Claudius was not the reasonable heir to the throne. This behavior made the public outcry and Hamlet, who was the lawful successor to the throne couldn’t be faced with the cruel reality. Hamlet was overclouded with a deep melancholy, and lost all his mirth and all his good looks. At the wedding of his uncle and his mother, Hamlet learned that his father ’s ghost appeared on the balcony, for two or three midnights. So he decided to have a look. As a result, he knew that his father was murdered by his uncle, which shocked himself deeply. In fact, Hamlet couldn’t revenge immediately because his uncle Claudius was a insidious and cunning man. To prevent Hamlet from revenging, he took many snaky means, including ordering Hamlet’ lover and old court officials to spy on him, sending him to the UK with killers keeping Hamlet company. Though Hamlet pretended to go mad, he was trapped into Claudius ’s snare ——duel with Laertes, who was Ophelia ’ brother. Laertes thought that Hamlet murdered his sister, so he wanted to revenge for her. Finally, the truth was exposed when Gertrude died because of poisoned wine. Hamlet tried his best to kill Claudius and he later also passed

away.

Hamlet was a character who was full of contradictions. To begin with, he accepted the influence of humanism and his heart was filled with ideal of beauty. Hamlet hoped everything would happen as perfect as the ideal of life. However, a series of real life accidently broke his ideal. Hamlet thought many philosophical problems deeply despite he couldn’t find the answer. So he wanted to revenge not only for his father but also for the tide. He didn ’t want to be confused by the ideals and the reality. Besides, Hamlet’s personality was too introverted and he was faced with a prudence and single-handedly situation, which made him feel hesitant and causes delays in his actions. In fact, he had excellent chances to kill his uncle for several times, but he showed the doubts which even made ordinary people understand difficulty. So the result of tragedy was predictable. Last but not least, we can ’t ignore Hamlet ’s sparking spots in human nature. He was righteous , kind-hearted and true. Also, his love for Ophelia was loyal and steady. When he knew Ophelia was drowned, he became crazy.

In my opinion, justice will always prevail over evil forever. A harmonious society needs kindness, truth and good faith. Nowadays, terrorism spread all over the world including China. Many innocent people were killed in terrorist attacks which happened in Kunming and Urumchi. It is a behavior which violates our social peace .The criminal must be punished strictly. Besides, when we meet difficulty or danger, what we should do is to use wisdom to overcome rather than risking our life. When Hamlet knew the truth, he pretended to be crazy for escaping the hurt from his uncle. I think it is a wise behavior.
