Sincerely yours Li Ming Raising Pets

Nowadays, a growing number of people would like to keep a dog or cat or some other kinds of pets and spend a lot of money on them. As is shown in the picture, a shaggy dog is comfortably enjoying care from two

people, one of whom is blowing-dry its hair with ease, the other tending one of its fore feet with great patience. Obviously the picture reflects a phenomenon that raising pets at home is becoming fashionable.

There are many reasons responsible for this phenomenon. First of all, pets are good compassions. This is especially true for people who live alone or for the old who seldom go out. What’s more, some pets, like dogs, are so lively and loyal to their masters that they can bring merriment to them. In addition, a cat or a dog can comfort people at times when human words just can’t help.

Considering pets offer us more than companionship, I think it justified to keep a pet and pay fees for its food as well as medical treatment. However, the last thing we should know is that don ’t let us live on a tight budget because of raising pets.

Please Save and Protect Wild Animals

Jan. 10, 2011 Dear Citizens,

I am writing this letter to call on all the people in our city to save and protect wild animals. As some of you may

phenomenon reflected by the picture is prevalent, we should give it some careful thought.

Can much academic pressure motivate the students and maximize their potentials? Not necessary. Just as a proverb goes, too much water drowns the millers; too much pressure may produce exactly the opposite results. On the one hand, it deprives the students of the interest in and the passion for learning. On the other hand, the excessive stress from study poses a great threat to students ’ health. Last but not least, too much homework takes up most of their time, preventing them from extracurricular activities, which is a great loss to their all-round development.

Accordingly, it is time to take some measures to make a change. First, the reform of education should be further carried out alongside with the promotion of quality education. Second, teachers should know better than to assign the students abundant mindless, repetitive and fruitless homework. All in all, effective measures must be adopted to reduce the load of the students.

Dear Sir or Madam,

My family and I are planning for a one-week trip through Hong Kong during the National Day holidays, so I am writing to get some detailed information about your package tour.

It would be highly appreciated if you could provide me with the following information. Firstly, how much does your package tour cost per person? Secondly, does the cost include the round trip air fare to Hong Kong? Thirdly, there are four persons in my family: my parents, my wife and me; is there any discount available?

Thank you in advance for your assistance and hope to hear from you soon.

Yours truly, Li Ming On Social Morality

In recent years, some people show disrespect for social morality. As is shown in the picture, a man is heroically striding across a railing along the center of road with two cars racing alongside him. It can be easily seen that the drawer intends to criticize the decline in social morality of some people.

Untold problems arise in the wake of people’s disregard of social ethics are in danger. Just as the picture depicts, the man may get injured by the cars when crossing the railing. Secondly, if regardless of moral and ethics, for example, nobody gives up his seat for the old, the pregnant or the sick in the crowded bus, then the general mood of society couldn’t be any worse and a harmonious society would be an unrealistic Utopian dream.

Confronted with such an issue, any right-thinking man should spring into action because “it is better to fight for good than to rail at the ill”. He should first of all make changes in himself, trying to abide by discipline and laws, observe social ethics, and maintain public order. Furthermore, he should mobilize the people around him to behave in accordance with whole society, such moral principles as public virtues should be observed conscientiously.

Hast Makes Waste

In the picture presented to us, a little boy is required by his parent to learn early-MBA courses. From the books pilled up on the left, we may safely say that the parent is hoping for something impractical. Thus, the phenomenon hiding behind is that parents of today are expecting too much too soon when educating their children.

There are many reasons explaining this trend. The most

important one is no other than the fierce competition among talents, which makes parents attach unprecedented attention to their children ’s early education. What is more, as a result of the family plan policy, the child is considered the only hope of the family and also the dream-carrier of his parents. In addition, with the development of the economy, more families can afford to spend more money on children’s education.

Considering all these reasons, I think it ’s high time for parents to change their attitude towards their kid s’ education. For one thing , children’s early education should be in line with their intellectual development. For another, parents should know that children ’s education ought to be interest-and –knowledge-oriented. Only in this way, can children grow up both physically and psychologically.

Jan 10, 2011 Dear Nick,

I am writing you this letter with the purpose to give you some suggestions on how to adapt to campus life as a freshman. In my opinion, you should firstly have a shift

in your attitude towards campus life. Since study is not the sole mission any more to a college student, you should take part in more extracurricular activities.

As to the issue of studying, I think it is necessary to improve your English in college. As an international language, English is playing at important role in every aspect of life. In addition, it will be of great importance for your job hunting after your graduation. I am sure that you can make it.

Wish you a happy and successful college life.

Sincerely yours, Li Ming

Fake Products Should Be Cracked Down

In recent years, fake and shoddy goods have become a heated topic under discussion. As is shown in the picture, the fake and inferior commodities are contending for markets with the genuine products. Obviously, what the drawing symbolically illustrates is that there are too many counterfeit and inferior commodities.

Consequently, many problems concerned with counterfeit and inferior commodities emerge. On the one hand, those fake and inferior goods will surely bring

losses to consumers physically and materially, even bring threat to people ’s lives. On the other hand, they will definitely cause damage to the fame of the well-known enterprises which is accumulated through years ’ efforts. Last but not least, the normal market order will be disturbed by these fake products.

Correspondingly, it is high time to beat the manufacturing and selling of counterfeit and fake goods. First of all, our government is responsible to strengthen and perfect the legislation of constraining the manufacturing and selling of these goods as well as protecting consumers ’ rights. Furthermore, we ought to enhance our awareness of the harm bought by fake and inferior goods, leaving no room for their existence and spreading.

Jan. 10, 2011 Dear Prof. Turner,

I am sorry that I missed your class yesterday and I failed to hand in my paper. I am excessively sorry for my absence.

I hope you will understand me and excuse me for my

absence and postponement of handing in my paper. I caught acute tonsillitis and I had to go to hospital in the morning. Attached is the doctor’s certificate. For making up, I will borrow notes form my classmates and hand in my paper this afternoon. I sincerely hope you will forgive me.

Again, I beg your pardon. Please accept my apology. Best regards to you.

Sincerely yours,

Li Ming

Good Fame Should Be Cherished

It is described in the picture that a hen is laying an inferior egg which looks like a bomb dropping into the pile of high-quality eggs. There is no doubt that the good reputation earned by the high-quality eggs will be ruined by the bomb-like inferior egg. It can easily see that the purpose of this picture is to show that the low-quality products can ruin the good fame.

That sham products can ruin the good fame can be best illustrated by the example of Chinese Sanlu milk Products Company which brought a devastating consequence to the whole dairy industry. As a company

enjoying good reputation, Sanlu received numerous blame and economic loss after being found producing inferior and harmful milk products. Finally, the inferior products brought Sanlu from the peak of its business to nothing.

To sum up, effective measures should be taken to enhance the good fame. For one thing, enterprises should realize their social responsibility and thus guarantee the quality of their products. For another, our government should strengthen supervision. Only in this way, can good fame be enhanced and the inferior products be prevented from being manufactured.

Jan. 10, 2011 To Whom It May Concern,

I learn from the notice board that you ’re seeking for a part-time library assistant who can work at weekends. With reference to your requirements, I think my classmate George would be an ideal candidate.

There are many reasons accounting my recommendation. To begin with, George, the same as me, is a sophomore, who is not so busy with his study as the juniors and the

seniors. In addition, he needs to work part-time to support himself since his family is unable to provide him with all the necessary fees of his study. Finally, George has a very pleasant personality, and working with him is always pleasing and encouraging.

Therefore, I don’t hesitate to recommend George as the right person for your consideration. I’m looking forward to your good news.

Sincerely yours,

Li Ming

Inequality in Education

During recent years, inequality in education has become a heated issue under discussion. As is shown in the picture, the fruits which stand for public education resource are originally designed for the public, but now, only those rich people can obtain them. Obviously, what the picture indicates is that our public resource has been unfairly privatized.

As a result, many problems related to public education are born simultaneously. Firstly, the rich people can obtain more opportunities to receive higher education, thus to enjoy better job opportunities. But those who are

unable to afford higher education have to go the opposite way- receiving unfavorable education and taking inferior jobs. Furthermore, accumulated unfair education can lead to many social problems and will surely affect the social stability, which is a very severe consequence that should be avoided in advance.

Accordingly, it is high time that we put an end to this unfair phenomenon. First, it is our government ’s indispensable duty to establish laws and regulations to eliminate it and prevent worse consequences from happening. Furthermore, we ought to raise our conscience to prevent unfair behavior from being created by ourselves.

Jan. 10, 2011 Dear Jimmy,

I was sorry to learn that you were injured in a car accident. I am writing at once to express my deepest sympathy for you.

It is understandable that you may now feel it’s unfair to you. For one thing, it was not your fault to have caused the accident. For another, the offender has been a

hit-and-run driver so far and the police are still looking for the clues. However, we should believe that justice has long arms. Therefore, I do hope you can cheer up and take good care of yourself.

I shall go to see you as soon as I come back from my business trip. Again, sorry for your suffering, and I am anticipating your speedy recovery. With my heartfelt concern and best whishes!

Sincerely yours Li Ming Life Is Irretrievable

The picture shows that live is compared to a game of chess. We may well conclude that life is irretrievable once you set your move. The comparison in the picture is the same as the real life, so you can never relive you life. Many examples can be found to prove that life is irretrievable. And the example of receiving education is a typical one. When we were young, we enjoyed the opportunity to receive education and it’s usually the only golden chance for us to equip ourselves to face the challenge of the future. In our daily life, most people realize that education is important. However, many of

them waste the best time that is most suitable for them to learn, thus they can never come back to their youth to regain it.

So to sum up, it is a truth beyond dispute that we should grasp every chance in our life. And the first step we should take is to accept the advance of our parents and teachers when we are young. Then, it is necessary for us to be resolute when making decisions. Most important of all, we should think twice before leap. After all, life is irretrievable.

Don ’t Be Cheated by the Disguise

In the picture presented to us, we can see that a man demonstrates a strong image to other people, but in fact his strong appearance is a disguised image. The picture vividly illustrates that we should not pay our attention only to the exterior of the things or phenomena. However, many of us neglect the truth behind the phenomena. Therefore, it is quite necessary to take actions to tell the truth from the falseness.

As we know, it is essential to be capable of distinguishing the truth nowadays. Without such ability, people are easy to become victims in the modern society

which is imbued with false information. Furthermore, if we can see what is lying behind, proper decisions are not hard to make and we are a step nearer to success. Therefore, it is quite significant to be alert at all times.

Considering the above analysis, we should prepare ourselves beforehand. Firstly, it is important to equip us with as much knowledge as possible. Furthermore, it ’s imperative for us to think twice before making decisions. Only in this way, can we see through the appearance to perceive the essence.

Jan. 10, 2011 Dear Wang Lin, thank you for your letter on Jan. 5, applying for the internship in our company, but I am afraid I must decline your application.

This has been a difficult decision for me, since you are really an eligible and prominent young man. However, I have to make the decision because we have to plan for recruiting interns this year due to the world economic recession. Moreover, our headquarters is even considering reducing the size of the staff.

In view of this, I regret that we are unable to accept your

application. However, I do hope we ’ll have the opportunity to cooperate in the future.

Best whishes!

Sincerely yours, Li Ming

A.B.C Company The NEET Problem in Our Society

It has been several years since the NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) problem came into the concern of our society. As is shown in the carton, the children who are adults already still live off their parents. Evidently, what the cartoon symbolically illustrates is that the NEET people have become a common phenomenon nowadays.

Inevitable, many problems related to the NEET emerge. The first and most direct consequence, as we can see, is that they are a burden to their parents. It’s supposed to be the generation’s duty to support their parents when their parents are old, but now, it ’s all reversed. Then, comes the question of employment of the young adults. If they don ’t get themselves hired, they will become a burden of the whole society. Last but not least, their behavior will

affect their children who are supposed to be the future of the nation.

Considering all the above problems, it is high time some measures were employed to fight against the NEET problem. Our government should take the responsibility to make them trained and then employed. Furthermore, parents should be on the alert so as not to spoil their children into the NEET.
