范文:

Nowadays, ATM assumes an important part in people’s life. Like anything else, ATM has both favorable and unfavorable aspects.

ATM has so many advantages. In the first place , ATM is convenient. People can draw money from it with a card everywhere . Besides, it is safe. If you lose your card, you don’t need to worry about it because people have to enter password in order to get money. Most important of all, when people need money at night, they can find a round-clock ATM and easily draw his money. Therefore, ATM solves the problem of money shortage.

Just as everything has two sides, ATM is of no exception. To begin with, if someone inputs a wrong password three times by chance, ATM will withhold the card. To make matter worse, sometimes there is no money in some ATM, which makes people in urgent need of money quite disappointed or even indignant. Worst of all, if someone forgets password, he will not draw money from ATM. There is sometimes a long queue in front of ATM, which wastes a lot of time.

Despite these disadvantages, an increasing number of people tend to use the ATM for the sake of/out of convenience and safety. I believe the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. And the drawbacks of the ATM will be desired little by little.

练习 Direction: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic On Stress. You should write no less than 120 words and base your composition on the online below:1.有的人害怕压力。2. 有的人认为压力并不是一件坏事。3. 我的看法。 On Stress

With the fast are pace of modern life, more and more people are living under great pressure. Some people are afraid of pressure. They think that the stresses and strains of work deprive them of joy and happiness. In their view, stress does harm to them both physically and mentally. That is why they prefer something less competitive and strenuous to something more demanding and challenging.Others argue that stress isn't as bad as it often supposed to be. Unless it is overwhelming, a certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and stimulation. With out stress, you may slack off and idle away your time. It gives purpose and meaning to an otherwise

meaningless, dull life. People under stress tend to bring their potential into full play and to realize their goals. In my opinion, we shouldn't escape from stress but to face it as it is. What we can do is to adapt to the stress and to profit from it rather than to avoid it.

95.1Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Can Money Buy Happiness? You should write no less than 100 words and you should base your composition on the outline (given in Chinese) below:

1. 有人认为金钱是幸福之本 (source of happiness)

2. 也有人认为金钱是万恶之源 (root of all evil)

3. 我的看法 范文:

Can money buy happiness? Various people have various answers. Some people think that money is the source of happiness. With money, one can buy whatever he enjoys. With money, one can do whatever he likes. So, in their minds, money can bring comfort, security, and so on. Money, as they think, is the source of happiness.

But there are still a lot of others who think that money is the root of all evil. Money drives people to steal, to rob, and to break the law. A lot of people became criminals just because they were in search of money. And in the Western countries, there is nothing that can’t be bought by money. Many people lose their own lives when hunting it.

I think that money is essential to life and we cannot do without money. But even though money is necessary to life, it can’t buy happiness. Happiness is not something that can be measured by money. It is a state of mind. One can have plenty of money, with which he can buy whatever he wants, and at the same time he is not happy because he is never satisfied or he is troubled by various kinds of problems. Therefore, although money is necessary for a happy life, it can’t buy happiness.

Numbers” Really Bring Good Luck?. You should write at least 100 words and you should base your composition on the outline (given in Chinese) below.

1. 有些人认为某些数字会带来好运。

2. 我认为数字和运气无关,……

Do “Lucky Numbers” Really Bring Good Luck? 范文:

Some people take it for granted that some lucky numbers can bring them good luck. For instance, the so-called lucky number “8” is widely used now because it is sounded like “getting rich” in Chinese and is believed to bring good fortune.

Yet many others don’t think so. They think that numbers have nothing to do with luck. They regard numbers simply as a mathematic symbols for counting. They are anything but a mystery. They laugh at those who think numbers can bring good luck.

I’m in favor of the latter opinion. I think our society is very modern now. We mustn’t count on the so-called lucky numbers to fulfill our wishes. Whether we can have good luck depends on ourselves. If we work hard, good luck will come to us.

99.6Directions: For this part, you are allowed thirty minutes to write a composition on the topic Reading Selectively Or Extensively? You should write at least 100 words, and base your composition on the outline (given in Chinese) below:

1. 有人认为读书要有选择

2. 有人认为应当博览群书

3. 我的看法

Reading Selectively Or Extensively

范文:

Some people think when we read we should read selectively. That is to say, we should select some books we are interested in and ignore the others. Reading selectively can help us concentrate our limited time and attention on

those selected books.

Others think we should read extensively. No matter what kind of book it is, we should look it over. We should read various kinds of books, whether we are interested in them or not. They maintain that reading extensively can help to enlarge our view and grasp the general knowledge in different fields.

In my opinion, the two reading ways have their roles respectively in our reading. However, the disadvantages of each methods are easy to see. If we only read the books we select or prefer, the framework of our knowledge may not be complete. Our knowledge would be rather limited. And if we read without selection, we may not have so much time and energy to be specialized in one particular field. Therefore, the combination of the two methods is more reasonable.

00.6Directions: For this part, you are allowed thirty minutes to write a composition on the topic Is a Test of Spoken English Necessary? The first sentence has already been written for you. You should write at least 120 words, and base your composition on the outline given in Chinese below:

1. 很多人认为有必要举行口语考试,理由是 ...

2. 也有人持不同的意见,...

3. 我的看法和打算

Is a Test of Spoken English Necessary?

A test of spoken English will be included as an optional component of the College English Test (CET). 范文:

A test of spoken English will be included as an optional (component of the College English Test (CET). Some people contend that it is absolutely necessary to hold a test of spoken English in China because we have been told many times that a Chinese student who has been learning English for years cannot communicate with a native English speaker. Sometimes even those top students who excel at grammar and writing skills find their English inadequate to express their thoughts freely when speaking. A test of spoken English will bring the importance of speaking English to the awareness of the college students, and thus help them with their communicating skills.

On the other hand, there are also people who maintain that good reading

and writing skills would be enough for the average English learners. College students are already under considerable pressure from their coursework. Another required test will only add to their burden. Also, some students may take the shortcut and only practice the questions according to the fixed format of the test, which will not actually improve their spoken English.

I believe that a test of spoken English will do more good than harm. Since China will continue its policy of opening and reform, the ability to speak fluent English is a must for anyone who wants to surpass others in a highly competitive society. Whether I take the test or not, I shall make all efforts to practice my spoken English in the rest years in college.

1997年6月六级作文题及范文:

Directions: For this part, you are allowed thirty minutes t o write a composition on the topic: My View on Job Hopping. You should write at least 1 20 words and y u should base your composition on the outline (given in Chinese) below:

1. 有些人喜欢始终从事一种工作,因为……

2. 有些人喜欢经常更换工作,因为……

3. 我的看法 范文:

Different people have different views on job-hopping. Some people would like to always engage in one work because they think that if one sticks to one work, he will be quite familiar and skillful with the work. However, others would like to change jobs constatly because they consider it fashionable to do so and besides they think they can get different work experiences.

As to me, I am in favor of the former group of people's attitude. I think hthat if one always works in one field, he can accumulate a lot of experience in that field which in turn will further improve his work. Therefore he will become an expert in that field. However, if one hops from one job to another, he can never amass experience in one field. Although he can get different work experiences, he can't make use of these experiences.in one particular work. Therefore, he will always be a jack-of-all-trades.

In conclusion, if one wants to be an expert in one field, he should not hop from one job to another.
