1 倡导“光盘行动”

Dear Jack,

Glad to receive your email. As a matter of fact,

the Campaign of Finishing Your Food on your plate, which means “clear your plate” , has nothing to do with music CDs. It is a campaign that is aimed to promote the spirit of saving and stopping wasting at dinner table. Too many people frequently order abundant meals but can’t eat up all the meals eventually, only to show their generosity. It is the same with students, who buy some food, find it not so delicious and leave it untouched on the plates. What a terrible waste!

Nowadays in the world quantities of people are going hungry for lack of food. Therefore, by no means should we waste a single grain! From my perspective, we are supposed to participate in the campaign as soon as possible, making our efforts to

make a difference to the world.

2 投诉信---投诉手机质量问题

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a customer who bought an iPhone 6 from your company two weeks ago. I am afraid that I must make complaints about it with regard to the quality of it.

Several problems have been found after I used the phone for

2 just two weeks. My first complaints is

that the volume of the phone is too low however hard I try to turn it up. What’ s more, its camera can’t work as well before, which has caused me much trouble. Still worse, the system can’t be updated.

I am writing to you in hope that you will do something effective to solve my problems. I would greatly appreciate it if you can either send me a replacement or give my money back.

Look forward to your early reply.

Yours sincerely, Li Hua 3 同学告别友情

I have studied in my school for two years, getting along well with my classmates. However, it is becau se I’ll move to another city that I have to say goodbye to my classmates. Having heard this, my classmates held a farewell party for me. I expressed my true love to them and my wish for an everlasting friendship with them, moving all of us to tears. Then came the moment to present me with the special gift, a heart-shaped board with some photos recording the unforgettable days we had spent together. Afterwards, they signed on my T-shirt, expressing their best wishes. Finally, we had a photo taken to memorize this precious moment. True friendship won’t be weakened by distance.

4 高考英语改革模式

3 Dear Sam,

Thank you for asking about our reform of the National College Entrance Examination. We are more than pleased at the news that the students taking the exams in 2017 in the two regions of Shanghai and Zhejiang will not be divided into science and liberal arts.

They will only take tests in Chinese, Maths and English for the big exams. For the three other, subjects, they can choose test scores from politics, history, geography, physics, chemistry, biology and others. These subjects will be tested when students finish learning. Studnets can take their English test twice a year and use the higher score on college applications.

I consider this reform will reduce stu dents’ study burden and develop their all-round abilities.

5 求职信---应征导游

Dear Sir / Madam,

I am pretty glad that China International Tourism Festival will be held in our city next month, for which I’d like to be an English guide. My name is Li Hua, 18 years old and a Senior

3 student in high school, considering that I can do a good job for the festival. First and foremost, I am good at English, speaking it fluently and freely. Additionally, I am fond of travelling, having worked as an English tour guide at several great festivals in our city before. Most importantly, I

4 am familiar with our local tourist culture, scenic spots and places of interest, skilled at communicating and cooperating with others.

I promise I will spare no effort to offer my service to the travelers from all over the world.

It would be greatly appreciated if I could be chosen as a tour guide. Yours faithfully,

Li Hua 6 志愿服务

Dear Student Union,

After reading your advertisement for recruiting (=looking for= searching for= hunting for=seeking for ) volunteers who desire to take part in the winter camp, I am dying to recommend myself.

I am Li Hua from Senior Three, having a good

command of English, especially oral English. I have an experience of three years working as a volunteer, which has taught me volunteering (voluntary work) can build up my confidence and enable me to develop my communication skills. All in all, it is necessary and vital for our social life. I sincerely hope to become a volunteer to broaden me horizon and get a better understanding of the world. I’d appreciate it if you could possibly consider my application.

I’m looking forward to your early reply.

Yours sincerely,

7 假期安排

Dear Tom,

Pretty pleased to hear from you. The summer vacation is approaching, which is the happiest and

the most important period for Chinese students, who do varieties of things in the summer vacation.

To begin with, it is a great time for relaxation. They can have fun playing sports with their friends or classmates. Additionally, they can also spend some time (in)travelling, visiting some places of interest or meeting various people. What’s more, some of them will make use of this period to go over the learned lessons and improve the weak subjects. Taking part in some voluntary work is popular with students as well during the summer vacation. Not only can they help others but also they can learn a great deal about society as well as enhance themselves. I hope you can enjoy yourself in the coming vacation. Yours,

Li Hua
