Money can not do everything

The pursuit of happiness has long been the dream of generations of human beings. They have always been puzzled by the essence of happiness? But when it comes to whether one’s financial success leads to happiness directly, people hold divergent views. Some argue that money is essential in our life. Others contend that crimes and indiscipline will ensue if people ignore the negative sides that the pursuit of money brings. Personally, I believe both these two views have some merits.

Granted, the abundant amount of wealth has spawned a host of boons in our lives. In the first place, contemporary scientific research often requires colossal amounts of money and substantial researching manpower. It is no exaggeration that human life has been fundamentally revolutionized by the own of huge wealth, which exerts profound influence on our lives. In the second place, the possession of huge wealth motivates the rich to contribute to our society. With the help of such aids, charities and environmental conservationists can raise enough funding for the poor and environmental preservation. For example, Bill Gates, widely considered the richest man in the world, devoted himself to charity. Without

huge wealth, Bill Gates could have failed to contribute to charitable events. However, except wealth, happiness, an important part in our life, should never be ignored. To start with, for a majority of people, reading or learning a new skill has become the source of his happiness and contentment. For instance, Mo yan before won the Nobel Prize for literature, he has always been persistent writing, not for money, but for the pleasure of the inner world. It was the craze for writing that motivated him to hold on to his dream. What’s more, in a fast-developing society, we all suffer from pressure from education, family and career due to school's academic work, the heavy burden from work and family, the fierce competition of the society. I think people should relax. It is important for them to pursuit happiness and keep a good mood under whatever circumstances. In the final analysis, I concede that pursuit of huge wealth might have some potential drawback. However, by averaging out its appraisal and encouraging people not to neglect the hardcore of life--happiness can eliminate the downside of this practice. On balance, I am convinced that we should sustain the extensive pursuit of money as a goal of life while at the same time do our utmost to honor and preserve our

spiritual strength---happiness and fulfillment.
