One day after school, just before I arrived home, I noticed a puppy beside the community gate. Seeing it shivering in the freezing wind, I felt sympathetic for it and decided to help.

Concerned that it might be sick, I rushed it to the neighborhood vet. On seeing the skinny dog with dirty hair, the vet recognized it as a stray dog. He praised me for my kindness and offered to examine it for free. Fortunately, the dog was fine except for being a little underweight. Since I couldn’t afford the time and energy, the loving vet agreed to keep it until I found it a home.

That night, I posted several pictures of the puppy with a description on a local website, hoping someone would adopt it. To my great surprise, within a few hours my post received hundreds of clicks and dozens of netizens applied to be the owner.

After several telephone “interviews”, a couple became my fin al choice since they have rich experience in dog raising. We met the next day at the vet’s. For the couple, it was love at first sight. The puppy, as if aware of what was going on, kept on wagging its tail.

As I waved the contented family goodbye, I felt a load off my mind and pride in my heart. If everyone can treat animals with love, the world will surely be a nicer place. (235 words) 学生习作范例(已修改)

参考答案:

1) On Friday evening, I was watching TV with my parents when a piece of news caught our attention. The park called on people to adopt trees. That was exactly what we had been thinking about. So the next morning, we went to the park. A worker there gave us a detailed introduction and showed us to the pine woods. We chose a beautiful pine tree and the worker tied an adoption card on it. Seeing my name on the card, I was so proud and felt responsibility at the same time. To memorize this exciting moment, we took photos with our new family member---the pine tree. In the photo, we all smiled from bottom of our heart.

much leftover food thrown away by students. What a waste! Being concerned about it, my classmates and I had a heated discussion on how to solve the problem. Lots of good ideas came up, such as holding class meetings, putting up wall newspapers and charging a fine for wasting food. Finally, we all agreed that wall newspaper would be the best choice. The next day, we put our idea into reality. Towards lunch time, we put up a wall newspaper outside the school cafeteria, calling on students not to waste food. Many students gathered around to read and expressed their support. To my great delight, there were changes soon. In the cafeteria, I found the trays returned after lunch all empty without any leftover. Food was saved and the dining hall was cleaner. Seeing this, I felt relieved and proud of what we had done. 3) Last Monday, we had a class meeting to discuss about Chinese Style of Crossing Roads. Everyone was involved in it and we finally came up with some bright ideas.

The next day, we were divided into several groups and stepped out of school to do something to prevent this phenomenon. One group made some posters and used a loudspeaker to raise people’s awareness of thisproblem. The other group chose to stand by the road side and used little flags to direct people to pass the zebra crossing.

Our efforts paid off, and this phenomenon almost disappeared. To our joy and surprise, Beijing Youth Daily reported what we did and praised us. What a worthy reward we received!(118 words)

4) I borrowed a book from the library the other day and took the book home. One evening, having finished supper, I went back to my room and started to read the book I had borrowed. I was so absorbed that I knocked the coffee cup over by accident, pouring the coffee onto the book. Wet through and coloured brown, the book turned out to be a mess. Of course, I couldn’t return the dirty book and the loss should be covered. The next day, I went to the bookstore, where I finally find the same copies of the book and bought one. When I returned the new book and explained the reason, the librarian accepted the book and praised me for my honesty and responsibility.

5) Last Friday was a freezing cold day. My classmate Wang Wei and I went home together after school. Suddenly we saw an old man lying on the ground, unconscious. A crowd of people gathered around him, but obviously didn’t know how to help him.

Being the members of the Red Cross of our school, we had learned how to deal with

10

emergencies. Quickly we checked the old man and decided to give him first aid. Wang Wei bent over and did CPR for him and I called an ambulance at the same time. Very soon, the ambulance came. Seeing the old man taken to hospital, we both breathed a sigh of relief. Many people praised us for our quick and calm response. W e were very happy to save the old man and proud to be the members of the Red Cross. That cold day ended with warm sunshine in our heart.

6) Last Saturday morning, I got up early and planned to search for information for my investigative study in the library.

I caught the first bus. There were only several people aboard and I was pleased to have a vacant seat. However, the bus got more and more crowded after a few stops. I found an old man standing beside me and I gave up my seat to him without hesitation. When I got off the bus, I saw a blind man waiting to cross the street, I immediately gave him a hand. At last, I arrived at the library and seeked out the information I needed.

I think we should spend our time meaningfully and do what we can when someone needs help.

On my way home from school at about five o’clock that afternoon, I hoped that I could get home in time to watch my favorite TV program. When I got to the bus stop, I noticed people waiting in line. This greatly surprised me because normally people piled into the bus. Before I had time to reason, my bus came along. Without a second thought, I jumped the queue. The moment I did that, I heard someone shouting, “Please queue up.” I turned around and saw a smiling old gentleman signing to me to stand in line. Then he explained that that was “Queue Day”, It was set to promote the public’s civic consciousness. On hearing that, I felt ashamed of my behavior. I know that I will line up from now on and I hope every day will be a “Queue Day”. This will make our city a much better place to live.
