Just as the graph above clearly depicted, the number of car accidents in Beijing fluctuated in 2010. From January to March, the number rose from 22 to 32, and then it declined to 26 in June. From June to August, the number sharply went up to 39, the highest point in the year. Fortunately, from then on, the number kept on decreasing, and in the last month of the year, there were only 16 accidents, the smallest number in the year. Why are there such sharp contrasts during a year?

My view on Job-Hopping

Job-hopping has become a heated topic among people recently. Opinions vary from person to person.

Some people assume that people who change their jobs frequently are superficial. They say the only way to success is to stick to one job, for constant practice in a professional field helps make an expert.

On the contrary, some other people take an opposite opinion, firmly believing that change means progress, and every change is a step to further success. When a person is not satisfied with his present job, replace it with a more challenging and better paid one.

For my part, I think it reasonable for a man to change his job if he gets a better opportunity. However, once he has found a position to fully display his

abilities, settle down and devote himself to the job. Only in this way can he enjoy achieving his goals.

Practice Makes Perfect

The well-known proverb “Practice makes perfect ” has long been accepted by all of us. It tells us that we have to practice again and again if we want to be an expert in a professional field.

Let’s take English study as an example. If you want to enlarge your vocabulary, you have to understand English words in the context and then learn them by heart. It is also true with English writing. You should practice writing every week and then ask teachers to go over it.

Another good case in point is skating. Nobody is born a good skater, and one can only become a skilled skater after countless falls and injuries. Every Chinese was excited when Yang Yang won the first Winter Olympics gold medal in Salt Lake City, but who knew what difficulties and hardships the girl had gone through?

Judging from the examples given above, we may safely come to the conclusion that practice makes perfect. So why not put what you are learning into practice?

I am sure you will become experienced and skillful if you keep on doing it.

1) 。接连发生的食品安全问题引起大家的密切关注,比如牛奶问题。

The problem of food safety has attracted much attention recently. Everyone is astonished at the news that thousands of babies suffered from serious health problems because they had been fed with some poisonous milk products.

The issue of food safety is so important that we cannot afford to ignore it. For one thing, food safety concerns the well-being of all the people in the country. For another, failure to ensure the safety of food causes damage to the image of our government, especially when such food is exported to other countries. Furthermore, unsafe food can undermine consumers’ confidence in the food industry, which may cause disastrous effect to our economy.

Therefore, our government should take all measures to make sure that all the food in our country is safe to eat. The government must strictly carry out food

safety standards, and impose severe punishment on those who violate them.

1) 。越来越多的大学生以写博客来记录生活,表达感情,发表意见。

More and more college students are becoming bloggers. They keep blogs to note down what happens to them, to describe their emotions and feelings, and to express opinions on current affairs.

There are different views regarding this phenomenon. Some people assume it’s a good idea for college students to keep a blog. They say blogs do not only provide an outlet for the students’ inner feelings like traditional diaries, but also provide a channel through which young people can communicate with one another. Others think differently. They are afraid that some students have spent too much time on their blogs, trying hard to win clicks and replies. Therefore both their academic work and their everyday interpersonal relationships may suffer. In my opinion, both views are reasonable. While writing blogs are advisable, the students also need to be aware of its potential shortcomings.

1) 。 时下电视真人秀(如超级女声、梦想中国等节目)非常流行。

Nowadays, TV shows are very popular. TV programs like Super Girls and Dreams in China have attracted thousands of people to participate, and many more wait to watch them when they are on show. Why are so many people interested in such programs? Advocates say that these programs provide excellent opportunities for young people to express themselves and to show their specialty. They help improve young people ’s self-confidence and can add to their courage.

However, some people criticize these programs, arguing that they are not only a waste of energy, money and time, but also a revelation of social vanity.

From my point of view, we need not be critical about such TV programs. If they can bring happiness to those participants as well as to the audience, they are justifiably entitled to prosper.

1) 。 很多出现能源短缺现象。

Energy shortage is a huge problem for modern society, and it has a negative impact on people’s daily life and economic development. Many elements account for energy shortage. First and foremost, rapid economic development prompts an increase of energy consumptions in different industries. In the Second place, population growth creates greater demands for household energy usage. Last but not least, people have not yet developed the sense of energy conservation. Actually we can do a lot to save money in daily life. Turn off lights and fans when nobody is in the room; design buildings with the concept of energy saving; use public transit instead of private cars in rush hours„ It is very easy for us to do these things as long as we have the sense of energy conservation, and we should do it right now!

Dear Sir, I am writing you this letter to show my keen interest in the post of assistant manager which you advertised in yesterday’s China Daily.

I am sure such courses as British and American literature and culture, business management and statistics will lend me an edge in the fierce competition in the job market. Another point I want to draw your attention to is that I have been taking an active part in a variety of campus activities. In the process, my teamwork spirit has been enhanced and my interpersonal skills improved.

I would like to meet you at your earliest convenience and discuss the possibility of working with your company. Or if you are too busy these days, you can contact
