My View on Over-Consumption

Some people are in favor of the idea of over-consumption. They point out the fact that China's rapid economic development has materially enriched the lives of ordinary Chinese people, and at the same time increased our demands as consumers. They also argue that the rising consumption helps drive economic growth.

However, other people stand on a different ground. They consider it harmful to consume more than what their family can afford. They firmly point out that the dogged pursuit for more accounts for our debts, anxiety, waste and overload. An example can back up this arguement: The American financial crisis caused by over consumption made the people of the world worse off. There is some truth in both arguements. But I think the disadvantages of over-consumption outweigh the advantages. In addititon to the above-mentioned negative effects, the surging consuming demand threatens to exhaust our resources and spoil our environment.

To conclude, our government is advocating ideas of "conservation-minded society" and sustainable development. Whether due to sense of guilt about waste, or a simple desire to save money, we need to promote sustainable consumption.

(Advantages and Disadvantages of the Cell Phone)

nowadays, with the rapid development of it and information industry, cell phones play a dominant role in towns people''s life. but, like everything else, they have both favorable and mffavorahle aspects.first, it''s useful. as a wireless

mobile telephone, it''s easy and handy to early to wherever one goes and call the callee however far away he is. therefore, it greatly facilitates people''s life. second, it''s convenient. whenever one meets trouble or something urgent, one can nmke a call immediately. most important of all, it''s a very helpful companion. with a multirfunction cell phone in hand, one can easily get on the net, browsing the useful information, conducting e-commerce and doing whatever one can do via internet.

however, just as everything has two sides, the cell phone also has many disadvantages. to begin with, it''s expensive to buy and costly to pay the hills, esp. that of global service. to make matters worse, it''s also easy to lose and costly to get it repaired. worst of all,it''s not as clear as a family telephone and sometimes the number dialed is often not available. last but not least, it''s alleged the microwaves in it might do harm to people''s health. in my opinion, with its expenses greatly reduced after china''s entry into the wto, it will face an ever brighter future in its development. someday most of them will be developed into

new intemet-enabled mobile phones, which will be as useful as pocket computers. and i believe its advantages will not only offset its disadvantages, but also far outweigh them.

(Traditional moral values)

There's so much for me to talk about in terms of traditions of family and community as a chinese. Confucius alone gave us much food for thought which is still being advocated but hardly practiced today. For example, 'self-cultivation, regulating the family, managing the nation, and establishing peace all over the world', a standard conduct of the chinese society for thousands of years, is eclipsed by individual thirst to glean more fortune.

How one's own fortune goes curtainly prevail over how a nation's does. In china the ammount of bribe money is astonishingly large and the number of corrupt officials which have been brought to the justice is not as large as those who are not yet. Why do these civil servants risk their fame and even lives in defiance of law? Greed and selfishness account for it. Corrupton among public service is but a drop in the ocean when it comes to the demise of the morality. As i walked around the downtown the other day, i found people, with their fancy clothes and stylish hairdos ,appear too materialistic, which is not to my liking. Wasn't there a time when things were simpler and people were more humble?Once bogged down in private interest, one finds oneself blinded by the greed and selfishness.

Advocating the traditional moral values about family and community is definitely necessary. Actually it has adopted by the chinese government as a key policy.

To run the coounty by combining the rule of law with the rule of virtue ,which is the essence of confucianism. I know modernization is necessary for advancement .however ,i hope we will forget the traditional moral values along the way.

没有品尝过四川菜的人不算来过中国(a failure of trip to China)。

China is a big country of cuisines. There are many schools of Chinese cuisines, among which the most representative and influential classification is "Eight Cuisines" of China. This classification has been widely accepted. The formation of a school of cuisine is inseparable from its long history and unique culinary specialties. It's also affected by local features of natural geography, climatic

conditions and habits of diet etc. The "Eight Cuisines" of China have their own cooking techniques and flavors of dish which are different from each other. Sichuan Cuisine is one of the most famous Chinese cuisines in the world. Sichuan Cuisine is famous for its spiciness. It'd be a failure of trip to China for people who don't have a taste of Sichuan Cuisine.

The Silk Road is not only a vital ancient trade route, but also a bridge linking the cultures of China and the West, through which the Four Great Inventions of China and religious beliefs of the West were introduced into their counterparts. From Zhang Qian opening up the

world-famous Silk Road during the Han Dynasty,to the collapse of the Yuan Dynasty,it

experienced a history of about 1,600 years. The Silk Road begins at Chang'an,and then by way of Hexi Corridor,it reaches Dunhuang, where it divides into three branches-the Southern Route,Central Route and Northern Route. The three Routes spread all over Xinjiang Uygur

Autonomous Region, and extend as far as Pakistan,India and even Rome. .

My View on Group Buying

This year’s China is witnessing a group buying fever. As the name indicates, group buying means a large number of individuals make a purchase together so as to receive a higher discount on the particular item. Customers can not only buy various kinds of goods in this way, but also purchase tickets, coupons and services at lower cost.

Popular as it is, complaints have been piling up about it, which reveals the problems occurring during the group buying process. The first and foremost problem is the fake product, which occurs mostly when buying cosmetics. Many a time did

customers feel dismayed at one obviously fake cosmetic which they had expected so much. What ’s worse, the after-sale service is far from completion and satisfaction. On many occasions, customers are denied access to filing their complaints, let alone asking for a refund.

My suggestions to deal with these problems are as follows. To begin with, it is urgent to create a national certification system so that only the qualified sellers can engage in the commercial activities. Secondly, all those who sell fake products and make false advertisements should be punished severely. It is not until these two methods are put into practice that group buying will develop on the right track.

Calligraphy is the essence of Chinese culture. It can be found everywhere in China, and is closely linked to daily life. Calligraphic works decorate sitting rooms, studies and bedrooms. The Chinese characters are written on Xuan paper which is good at absorbing ink. The work will be pasted on a piece of thick paper with a silk edge, and then mounted on a scroll or put into a picture frame for hanging on the

wall.Usually, a calligraphic work contains a poem, a pair of couplets or a motto the owner likes very much. If the calligraphic work is written by the owner himself, it will demonstrate his wish and interest as well as his literary or artistic talent.

A calligraphic work can bring vitality to the white wall, pleasure to guests and friends.
