Millions of students take examinations every year. A small part of the students decide that the best thing would be to cheat as they take those examinations. Cheating is something: that is not uncommon at school and thus it has become a serious problem.

Why do students cheat? The reasons for this are rather complex. The main reason is that examination is believed to- be the best measure of one's intellectual capacity, so students cheat to prove it to others.

Secondly, when students are not prepared for the examination they may think they are forced to , so they can pass or get a better grade.

Also, if you are in an environment where everybody's cheating and teachers turn a deaf ear to this. You don't want to stay behind.

Around twenty years ago I was living in Seattle and going through hard times. With rich experience and a Master’s degree, to my shame, I could only drive a school bus to make ends meet.

Later that afternoon, I dropped off a little girl in a quiet suburban neighborhood. As she passed she handed me an earring, saying I should keep it in case somebody claimed it. The earring was painted black and said 'BE HAPPY'. It hit me. I had been putting all of my energies into what was wrong with my life rather than what was right! I decided then and there to make a list of 50 things I was grateful for. At first it was hard, then it got easier. One day I decided to up it to 75.

My life was completely changed. I know that it was because I changed my attitude to gratitude, which is the key to happiness.

I spent the next year conducting training workshops all around the Seattle area and then decided to risk everything and go back to Scotland where I had lived previously. I closed my one man business, bought a plane ticket and got a six month visa. One month later I met my wonderful English wife and best friend of 15 years now. We live in a small beautiful cottage, two miles from a paved road in the highlands of Scotland.

A retired teacher received many letters from his former students, one of which was read as not only a thank-you note for his inspirational teaching in his mathematical class, but a warm comfort for his poor physical condition.

R eading the passage, I’m touched and link my memory to the most supportive mentor of my own -- Mr. Xu, an experienced Chinese teacher, was in charge of my class in Senior Three. As the senior year is characterized by running a tight schedule on everyday basis, we students were loaded with heavy coursework, frequent quiz and exams, and pressured by our parents’ high expectations. Increasingly, I felt a need to consult with Mr. Xu on reducing the amount of our workload so that we could be given more time to digest what we had learned over the past couple years.

Unlike some of the stern supervisors, Mr. Xu was open-minded and patient enough to allow me to raise the above argument. “Besides the study efficiency,” he added with a friendly simile, “I also concern for your morale and well-being. So don’t worry; I’ll talk to other teachers and see what we can do to help the class decompress.” Thanks to his approval and consistent support, we systematically adjusted our pacing and stayed upbeat in preparation for the college entrance examination.

A teacher can be influential in either positive or negative ways. In my observation, a good teacher can bring out the best of his students while a bad teacher may, regrettably, affect the young mind in most discouraging manners.

Being a school bus driver, the author has been feeling unsatisfied with his life until the girl gave him the “BE HAPPY” earring, which was waiting for its owner. He learned that being grateful will lead to happiness.

Actually, I experienced great happiness last weekend when my parents came from home to meet me for a dinner. With heavy schoolwork in Senior Three, I have been staying in school for nearly one month, just talking to my parents on the phone occasionally. Last weekend, I almost cried saying I missed them so much and they promised to see me at weekend. When the bell rang, I rushed to the school gate where I knew my parents were waiting for me. We had a big hug and hand in hand walked into a restaurant nearby for dinner. We ate chatting and laughing, greatly relieving my anxiety. I was the luckiest and happiest girl at that time. Thank you! Love you both, Mum and Dad!

In my opinion, being grateful is absolutely the road leading to happiness. I thank my parents for their bringing me up and driving a long way to see me from home. I enjoyed the happiness of staying with them. As to the author, he didn’t sense the fragrance of happiness until he changed his attitude and was grateful to his existing life. So, be grateful before enjoying your happiness!
