How to get your dormitory

• Part B (Page93)

• Dear Mickey

• I came to see you but you happened to be out. I’d like to invite you to visit me at my school when you have time. Here is how to get to my dormitory.

• When you get to the school gate, you’ll see the playground in front of you with the gym on the left and three classroom buildings on the right. Go towards the gym. Then, walk along the road between the playground and the gym. Go straight past t he library and the teachers’ office, until you reach a small river. Take a right turn to get to the bridge, and you’ll see three buildings ahead. The one in the middle is our canteen. The two buildings on both sides of the canteen are the dormitories. The one on the left is Dorm1.That’s where I live.

• See you soon.

• Unit 2 task

• Write a letter of advice to liu xiaowei

• Dear Xiaowei,

• Many teenagers have difficulty getting along with their parents. This is a common problem. However, be patient with him. You say that he does not listen to you. Is this why you do not listen to him? Of course, your father will be very angry when this happens! It is only natural. You must listen to your father-he loves you and wants the best for you. You should talk with your parents in order to explain how you feel, but you should get them a chance to speak first. It could be that your father doesn’t listen to you because he doesn’t think that you are listening to him.

• It is true that you need time to be by yourself. However, part of being an adult is doing things that you do not always want to do. You should make an effort to do what your parents ask. It will not hurt you. And of course, you must do your homework! Your studies are important to your future.

• Both being a teenager and being a parent can be very difficult. However, don’t

give up. With a little bit of patience and communication, many of these problems can be solved.

• Best regards.

• Dr Fang

• Workbook :

• Do you agree with mums working?

• Today we had a discussion about working mums. The opinions were divided. Sixty-five percent of the students were for the idea of working mums. They stated the following arguments. First, mums have the right to work. Second, working mums not only bring in more money, but they can also feel proud of their success in work. Third, working mums are good for society. • However, thirty-five percent of the students were against mums working. They argued that mums do not have to work outside the home. If they do, there will be no one around to do the housework, like cooking the meals or cleaning the house. It is too expensive to hire a maid to do the work. • Personally, I think it is up to the mums to decide what they want to be: a working mum or a housewife.

必修二 Unit 1

Task 作文(参照课本17页)

From our recent survey of students,we have found that only 8 per cent of the students like reading. The most popular reading subject is humour, which 28 per cent of the students enjoy. This is closely followed by travel books, which 25 per cent of the students are interested in. 16 per cent of the students like reading about sports and twelve per cent like science books. A small number of the students like other subjects, such as history.

We want to get the students interested in reading. For this reason, we suggest that we have a humour book club, since humour is the most popular subject. Each class would have its own club meetings once a week. At the meetings, they could discuss what books they are currently reading, and could even read aloud some funny bits from the books. The class monitors could then come up with a list of humour books

which are popular with the students, and this list could be shared with the other classes. This would be a good way to encourage students to read by helping them learn about books that they might enjoy.

Workbook 作文:Write a letter telling Jim about your dream.(参考书本93页) Dear Jim

I had a strange experience last night. It was very dark. I noticed a light in my back garden, so I walked to the door to take a look. A UFO had landed in my garden and opened its door! I couldn’t believe my eyes. An alien was walking down the stairs of the UFO. He walked up to me and said, ‘Now, I’m taking you to a new place.’ Then, he led me into the UFO and we flew to the Moon. Just as I began to enjoy the ride, all of a sudden, the alien shone a strong light in my eyes. I had to keep my eyes shut to avoid the light. Guess what? It was the sunlight shining on my bed. What a dream! Yours

Unit 2 Task 作文:Write an e—mail to your father about your holiday plans. Dear Dad

I’ve looked at several possible places where we can go on holiday and checked Mum’s schedule. We think we should go to Shandong Province because none of us have ever been there before. If we go, we’ll have an active holiday climbing Mount Tai. Mum can explore famous lakes and springs in Ji’nan. We can also visit Qufu, where Confucius was buried. I think you and Mom would like this.

We can travel in May, between the 1st and the 7th . The trip lasts 4 days and 3 nights. It costs only 1,300 yuan per person, so Mum will be pleased with that.

I think this trip sounds very exciting and it sounds just like what you and Mom want. Let me know if I should book it.

Bye for now.

Love

Workbook 作文Write about your experiences in Beijing.

8 May, Monday

We are finally back from Beijing. It was a really wonderful visit!

On the first day in Beijing, we got up early and went to see the flag being raised in Tian’anmen Square. Then, we visited the Palace Museum. On the second day, we visited the Summer Palace. The Summer Palace is like a park, and is very beautiful. The next day, we went to the Great Wall. The Great Wall is a symbol of Chinese culture. Everyone says, ‘ He that does not reach the Great Wall is not a true man.’ I think this is true. I was so proud to climb to the top of this ancient wall. On the last day, we visited the Temple of Heaven.

I was very tired after the visit, but it was well worth it.
