四、One possible version:

The 9th China International Garden Expo is opening soon. We are very excited because it will be held in Fengtai District, the place where we live and study. All of my classmates agree that we should do something for it. So last Sunday morning we came to some busy streets and sent to the passersby colorful brochures introducing the Expo. Then we went to the spot where free car stickers were handed out. We helped the drivers put the stickers on their cars, hoping the concept of green lifestyle will spread as those cars run around the city.

In the afternoon, we came to the Garden Expo park to plant trees. Some of us dug holes. Some planted young trees and others watered them. Seeing the lines of trees, we had a wonderful sense of achievement. When walking around the park, we were attracted by its beauty and some of us couldn’t help taking part in a contest, drawing the Garden Expo in their minds.

It was a busy and tiring day, but all of us felt really happy and proud to make our contributions to the Garden Expo.

第二节 开放作文(15分)

三、One possible version:

Seeing the picture, I can’t help thinking how silly the boy is! He is cutting the thorns off the cactus. Maybe he thinks the thorns will hurt him. But a cactus without thorns is not a cactus anymore. What’s more, cutting down thorns can cause deadly effects because thorns can prevent loss of water and protect cactuses from birds and animals.

Just like the boy, we human beings always try to change nature according to our will. For many years we have been doing things against nature, just for our own benefits. Now we are suffering from the disasters we have caused---pollution, climate change, deforestation and so on. I think it’s time for us to correct our mistakes and learn to respect nature.

第二节开放作文(15分)

请根据下面提示,写一篇短文。词数不少于50。

You are discussing the following picture with your English friend Jim. Now you are telling him how you understand the picture and what makes you think so

One possible version: at the Capital Airport and we chatted happily along the way. In order to get him to know Chinese culture, I prepared a series of activities. For example, on the second day, we paid a visit to the famous Maoer Hutong, where we had an interesting rickshaw tour. Mike felt very excited about the driver ’s vivid introduction to the history of Hutongs. The following day, I took him to MeiLanfang Grand Theatre to watch Beijing Opera. Although he could understand few words, he was still amazed to see the colorful costumes and the unique way of performing. When it was time for him to return to the US, I sent him some gifts with Chinese elements, such as a Beijing Opera mask and a Chinese knot. He was very grateful for what I had done and said he was really impressed by the diversified Chinese culture.

From this experience, I felt proud of being a Chinese and felt it my duty to introduce Chinese culture to the world.

第二节 开放作文(15分)

三、One possible version:

Jim, look at this funny picture. From my perspective, this picture warns us against working blindly. The boy is obviously busy picking apples from a tree. However, he loses most of them from the hole in the basket as he takes no notice of it. In life, we often keep making efforts blindly like the boy in the picture, not knowing how much we actually gain. For example, many students often busy themselves dealing with homework and test papers every day, but forget to check if they have really learned anything. So, I think we should open our eyes and make every bit of our efforts count. Only in this way can we really work effectively and keep the “apples” inside our “basket”. Do you agree, Jim?

可以接受的立意:

1. 盲目做事不看结果,最终收获甚微;

2. 做事前应该准备充分才能确保收获;

3. 做事情要具有合适的工具;

4. 不仅关注所得,也要关注所失;

……

Hello Jack,

I ’m very happy to receive your letter. I’d like to share with you the great changes that have taken place in our school since the educational reform.

In our school, both the compulsory and optional courses are offered. We are free to choose the optional courses based on our own interests. We are encouraged to learn by doing. We are supposed to do research work, which helps us to think for ourselves and develop our creative mind. Taking exams is not the only way to get credits, homework and research paper also count.

I really like the changes in our school. What about yours?

Yours Li Hua

第二节 开放作文(15分)

三、One possible version:

Jim, look at this picture! The man seems to be looking for water. He has dug several holes, but all of them have been left unfinished. In reality, many people lack willpower and patience while doing something difficult. Just like the man in the picture, he didn’t dig any of them further. If he had done so, he would have got water. In my opinion, when we do something, we should have the willpower to finish it. We must firmly carry it through to the end if we want to get a fruitful result. A man who gives up halfway will achieve nothing.
